In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
